Missing is an upcoming American computer screen mystery thriller film written and directed by Nick Johnson and Will Merrick (in their directorial debuts), from a story by Sev Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty. It is a standalone sequel to the 2018 film Searching, and stars Storm Reid, Joaquim de Almeida, Ken Leung, Amy Landecker, Daniel Henney, and Nia Long. The film sees a teen girl who, after her mother disappears on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, uses various technology to find her. It is set to be released in theaters on January 20, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing under their Screen Gems banner.
When her mother disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s search for answers is hindered by international red tape. Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June creatively uses all the latest technology at her fingertips to try and find her before it’s too late. But as she digs deeper, her digital sleuthing raises more questions than answers...and when June unravels secrets about her mom, she discovers that she never really knew her at all.
