Red, White & Royal Blue is a 2023 American romantic comedy film directed by Matthew Lopez in his feature film directorial debut, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ted Malawer. Based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston, the film stars Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine opposite each other as the son of the President of the United States and a British prince, respectively, who fall in love. Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, and Uma Thurman also appear in supporting roles.

In 2019, Amazon Studios announced the film's development with Greg Berlanti as a producer. Lopez was announced as director and co-writer with Malawer in 2021. Casting announcements began in June 2022 with Zakhar Perez, Galitzine and Thurman announced to play their respective roles. The majority of the remaining cast was announced the following month. Principal photography took place in England between June and August 2022.

Red, White & Royal Blue premiered at the BFI IMAX in London on July 22, 2023, and was released on Amazon Prime Video on August 11.

Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of Ellen Claremont (the first female President of the United States), attends a royal wedding with his best friend Nora Callahan. Alex loathes the wedding, specifically his arch rival Prince Henry, the grandson of the king. During the wedding reception, Alex and Henry bicker and get into an altercation, resulting in the wedding cake falling on top of them, an event that becomes highly publicized.

To minimize the fallout of the press, Alex and Henry are forced to do a series of interviews and publicized visits, pretending to be friends. Later, they visit patients in the hospital and are forced into a closet, where Alex admits that he began to dislike Henry after the latter rebuffed at his first public appearance as the president’s son. Henry apologizes and the two make amends, later exchanging numbers and continuing their friendship.

At Alex’s annual New Year’s Party, he witnesses Henry leaving abruptly and follows. Henry starts to express his desire to be anonymous in the world and suddenly kisses Alex. To Alex’s confusion, Henry ghosts him shortly after and ignores his attempts at contact. At the President's Dinner, Alex finally spots Henry and has a private conversation with him, where they agree to be friends with benefits. Shortly after, following a plan created by Alex to flip Texas in the upcoming election, Ellen sends him to Texas to lead her re-election campaign there.

The morning after the Democratic National Convention, Zahra, the White Huse Deputy Chief of Staff, finds Alex and Henry in bed and demands Henry to return to Britain. Back at the White House, Alex comes out to Ellen, who supports him, but tells him he needs to make sure his love for Henry is genuine, since both nations would be affected. Alex invites Henry to his father’s vacation home in Austin, where he begins to profess his love for him. Henry, knowing he can’t openly be in love with Alex because of his expectations as royalty, leaves suddenly and begins to ignore his calls and texts. Frustrated, Alex visits Henry in Britain and demands answers. Henry states that he loves Alex too, but that he has to belong to the royal family and that it would he impossible to be himself. Alex assures him they can love each other on their own terms, and the two reconcile.

The next morning, Alex and Henry's personal emails are leaked to the press. They are forced to cut off contact with each other until Zahra contacts Shaan, Henry’s equerry. Alex immediately flies to Britain to reunite with Henry. The King summons them into a meeting and tells them that while he knows their love is real, they can’t be together since the relationship doesn't fit in the traditional image of the crown. Just then, they notice a crowd of people gathered outside of Buckingham Palace in support of Henry and Alex. Bolstered, Henry and Alex step outside, greeting the public as a couple.

Election night soon rolls around, as Alex, Henry, Ellen, and many others nervously await the results. As Alex and Henry share a sweet moment together, joy erupts amongst the crowd when they discover Ellen has won re-election thanks to Alex’s efforts to flip Texas. Alex and Henry later visit Alex’s childhood home to personally celebrate.
